I do alot of volunteering with a few local originazations including the local food pantry, churches, and my children's schools. I have served food to the underserved, made food boxes, and watched classrooms for teachers just to have a little time to breathe.
I have been married for 13 years to my funloving, knuckleheaded husband, Ben. We have 4 children, JT, Allie, Caroline, and Kat. They are awesome and are the loves of my life.
FUN FACT: I am the seventh of 11 children.
That's right....ELEVEN!
All are my full biological siblings. I have six
brothers and four sisters with ages ranging from 45 to 20 yrs old.
My career goals have changed so many times over the years. I am hoping with the completion of the 2021 Lafayette Programming cohort, I can enter into the job market with a new set of skills that will help me get a fullfilling job!
My hobbies tend to center around my family. We are a big theatre family. I love to read and enjoy a good movie or television show every chance I can manage to see one.

So far in my coding journey I have experienced and learned so much. These are some of my stories.
Couldn't get my server to load for a frontend assessment. Tried everything for about 25 minutes until I realized that my actual server was loading on the wrong port. I had two different server ports listed. Changed it to all the same port. Bam, works.
During a QA lab, my pair programming partner and I were hitting a wall with Jest. It was just not working. I started checking our dependencies and realized that our ChromeDriver was not out of date, but too new! Chrome had updated to a beta version that was not compatible with the chromedriver needed to run Jest. Solution: roll back the chrome update to an earlier version that would work and updated the driver needed in the dependencies. And boom, worked.
Another concept I learned and was able to explain to a group was crytography. I learned this concept literally on the fly. Who knew about hashing/salting of passwords? I was able to explain the way that this worked and the concept behind how to figure out your password. They were amazed to learn about "brute force" and how long it would take to figure out their password based on what they currently use. It was amazing to hear how many people may or may not use personal information as a password.
I tend to be able to read out code and spit out a pretty decent explanation to someone about what it means and how to go about understanding what exactly it is doing. I have been asked by several people just to take a look and see what is going on with code before. It's a great feeling just for someone to have enough trust in your ability to help steer them in the right direction.
